Being a writer is all about putting words on a page. Right? Kind of, but not completely.

Every writer works differently but, on the whole, the core fundamentals of what we do are the same. Each client provides their specific requirements and then sets us free to work our magic before we deliver a masterpiece that does everything they expect. However, there is much more to what we do. Essentially, you get a lot more bang for your buck!

At this point, you might be thinking, “I’ve given them a brief, they put the words together and create the final product, surely that’s it?”. You’re right, but what about everything else that happens in the background?

We Plan

We don’t take your brief and run with it. Far from it. We take your brief, analyse it and then plan how we put it into words. This might include breaking your brief down into sections that allow us to work methodically towards the finished article. It could involve researching your specific requirements and how we will find the data that needs to be included. It’s about the key objectives and understanding the subject deeply to ensure we create content that is accurate and engaging.

This planning takes time because we care about how we work. Preparation is key and that is the reason why planning forms the cornerstone of what we do.

On to the Content Strategy

Once we have planned, we move to the strategy that gears us up for creating your content. How will we pull the information and data together? How long will the article or web content take to write and how does that impact the deadline? Do we need to gather any more information from the client to ensure we have everything in place? What about the SEO element of the article?

If we have all of the above questions answered, then we need to define the tone and style as this is vital for ensuring we hit the target audience in a way that makes an impact.

Outline the Content

It’s time to roll up our sleeves and begin preparing for the creation of your content. At this point, we work hard to create an outline. This means that we can organise our thoughts and findings as well as create a logical flow. We don’t throw it all together and hope for the best, that’s not how we roll!

There are headings, subheadings and bullet points which bring the information to the forefront for readers to engage with and digest. It’s much like setting the foundations when building a home – when the outline is right, it means that things quickly begin to fall into place.

Create a Draft

With the outline in place, we now start the process of writing a draft. We get the ideas down without worrying about perfection at this point. We ensure that every section has the right points. Once we have the information down, we begin to edit the draft for clarity, conciseness, and coherence. We fine-tune, check for grammatical errors and phrases that might require altering, and make revisions for readability and engagement. These improvements ensure that the content is finalised and aligns with the expectations of each client.

Now comes the proofreading because everything has to be right. This leaves us with a polished and professional piece of content that can be delivered to the client.

Alterations and Feedback

Look, no writer will tell you that every piece of content they deliver is delivered perfectly. Sure, it might be perfect for us but every client has their own vision and feedback. This might not even relate to our writing but they might have something they want changed based on how they want things to be read by their audience. They might even want something extra added to the content that they might have missed from the brief. Whatever it might be, we discuss it and then take the necessary action, eventually leading to a finalised copy of content that hits the note with the client and their audience.
